THE ROLE OF KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS IN NATURE POLITICS

Several years ago, the Wholesome Food Association was featured in a dissertation of great power and depth. This dissertation may be of considerable interest to those dedicated to green movement activism.

Growing your own vegetables and raising your own hens and animals to provide the excess to the community is truly green activism; you are doing something useful rather than sitting around grumbling.

Among the more interesting topics found within the dissertation is a very clear explanation of how the reductionist, mechanistic world view held by our large and dominant institutions also control and virtually stifle alternative social and economic structures. They largely dictate and determine what words and phrases are deemed acceptable. For instance, the traditional scientific societies and journals determine what is "sound science." Unfortunately for the small and local movement, these institutions dance to the tune of huge, rich and powerful corporate interests.
