Our principles

Forest Farm Peace Garden works with a broad cross section of the community to promote health, wellbeing, environmental sustainability and intercultural awareness. We are committed to applying the core principles of permaculture: Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share

The aim for all of our activities is to have a benefit for both people and the environment. This means that not only are we committed to organic gardening and other ecologically sound practices, but aim to contribute to sustainable local food production, to the physical and mental health of the community and to the promotion of diverse, tolerantand equitable society.

Our Programmes:

Volunteering The Peace Garden offers opportunities for people of all ages and levels of experience interested in volunteering, community and the environment. Activities include food growing, tree planting, wildlife conservation, arts and crafts, outdoor social events and more. Anyone can get involved, regardless of experience.

Refugee Integration The Peace Garden is committed to promoting refugee health and integration, as a vital part of creating a healthy, diverse and equitable society. Along with the communal activities, refugees and asylum seekers may have their own plots in the garden, where they can grow the fruits, herbs and vegetables of their choice.

Severn Farmers' Markets

We run Berkeley and Dursley Farmers' Markets in Gloucestershire and Downend, Emersons Green and Yate Farmers' Markets in South Gloucestershire.

The Farmers' Market Organisers are also Producers who sell at the markets. We like to run markets that that have good facilities, are fun for customers to attend and financially worthwhile for producers. Some of our producers are very experienced; however, we also enjoy encouraging small scale and novice producers to try selling at their first Farmers' Market.

Aims

We aim to organise markets that provide a wide range of first quality, sensibly priced food and plants for local communities; run low cost markets with good facilities for producers, and link up with local groups, giving them opportunities for fundraising.

Farm and gardens providing educational facilities for young people.

On sale, (according to time of year) pork and lamb (and there are also plans to sell beef). Eggs are available all year round, and turkeys at Christmas. From the garden, salad and vegetables, and apples in the autumn.

One of the missions of the Trust is to provide educational facilities for young people.

The children  who come to stay in the Out of Town centre collect the eggs, milk the  goats, bring the cows in etc. and plant/harvest in the garden in due  season. The produce they gather is eaten by them in the Centre and the surplus is sold to the general public.

The trust has been helping people to appreciate the countryside since 1975. Well worth a visit.
